Patriot? Then Be Proud Out-loud

Take pride in your nationality as part of this great, sovereign country. Your homeland is part of what defines your origins. Be prepared to defend her against attackers and naysayers. Our founding fathers believed in trade, immigration, religious freedom, fair taxation, education, the arts, security, and “the pursuit of happiness.” These ideals are part of our collective identity. Loving America and what she stands for is a way of loving yourself and appreciating where you’ve come from, regardless of your origin.

Act as an ambassador for your country

Consider how the nation’s diversity has contributed to the society we all enjoy. The melting pot of different ethnic communities, cultures, languages, and religions defines our national heritage. Differences are what enable our art forms, writings, small businesses, medical advances, and inventions. Cultural foods, festivals, parades, and celebrations make life more interesting. Embrace diversity and strive to promote a culture of inclusiveness wherever you are.

Be an active contributor to the economy

Put all your skills and talents to use toward the economic prosperity of your nation. Be a law-abiding citizen dedicated to helping others. Rather than harboring resentment, be proud that you can pay your fair share of taxes to provide the security net that raises others out of crippling poverty. Do what you can to promote a clean environment for subsequent generations.

Defend your nation

Military personnel are the ultimate patriots; they deserve our gratitude and utmost respect. When you see a member of the military, go out of your way to extend your thanks for their sacrifice. Pray for the safety of our troops overseas. You don’t need to be an active member of the armed forces to defend our nation. Citizens can protect our country by working in our hospitals, participating in local government, by defending our democracy, or working with charitable organizations within their communities for the welfare of others. Honor your nation and promote its goals wherever you are. Remember, if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Persistence Pays Off… Right?

Self-control, perseverance, and grit are the most important predictors of success – even more than IQ or socioeconomic background. Thankfully, persistence is a quality that can be cultivated. It’s a decision that we make to stick with what we’re doing, no matter what.

Our ability to recover from setbacks is governed by our ability to engage with people who are different, control our actions, ask curious questions, and think positively. Completing goals fast is satisfying, but the sweetest victories are those we’ve worked hard to achieve and defined ourselves in the process.

Let the promise of the future motivate your success

The promise of the future is a powerful motivator for success. Focus on your “purpose” and your “mission statement” for strength. Emotions threaten to stop us dead in our tracks or deter us off the rails onto a different course. Sticking to principles and stated objectives will help you stay on your path.

The most persistent people have all-consuming visions of their future success. If you really want something, nothing can stand in the way of your powerful desires. Sometimes you may need to take a break to rebuild energy and strength, but never lose sight of that grand hope.

“Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.” – Jim Rohn

No matter how much you want something, staying continually motivated is difficult, especially when progress is slow. Developing habits is the best way to hack your way to the finish line. Certain habits help to motivate you for completing any task you set out to achieve.

Getting up early and going through a morning gratitude ritual gets your days off on the right foot. Putting in time doing at least one task related to your goal – even if it’s for less than an hour – keeps you constantly progressing. Surround yourself with motivators. Set up rewards when you hit milestones along the way to keep your enthusiasm up.

View challenges as opportunities to increase knowledge and skills

Learning from past mistakes is a way to remain positive and steadfast, despite obstacles. Reading stories of how others overcame challenges to succeed in the end can be a great source of inspiration and a helpful reminder that no life is perfect. Humans are highly adaptable.

You may need to alter your approach or wait a little longer for the payoff, but know that success is always within your grasp. The most persistent people know that life is a journey of dead-ends and detours. They know when to let go of ego and admit that something is not working. They are quick to incorporate new information and adapt to a better way.

Concentrate On The Journey Ahead

Focusing on the many opportunities life holds keeps you moving forward, happily and productively. The future holds the piece of history we are still writing.

Today, we have all the power in the world to change tomorrow. All of your life experiences and perspectives over the years have prepared you for this moment to embark on your journey toward the future.

“Let us not look backward in anger, nor forward in fear, but around in awareness.” – James Thurber

Our past like the ex we just can’t let go of – sweet smells, familiar, comfortable.

For some situations, we may find, as time goes on, we tend to idealize the positive and forget all the negative drama happening at the time.

Particularly, in relationships, there can be many loose ends we can’t quite wrap our minds around, making it difficult to forge ahead into new romantic endeavors.

In other cases, we may be unwilling to stop playing a reel of anger and resentment regarding someone from our past to prevent “losing” them or facing the underlying hurt.

We all have nostalgic moments to reminisce, but make sure you’re not stuck facing backward. If you are habitually longing for the past, you should:

  • Forgive yourself for past mistakes and work through the guilt. Accept it as part of your journey.
  • Forgive others. If you can’t, fake it until you make it. Time will heal your wounds.
  • Realize you are not your thoughts. Slow your racing mind and connect with an ocean of calm.
  • Look at the choices before you, replacing “I should have” with I will.
  • Give yourself some time to grieve, but set some goals for what you will do when this phase ends.

Future possibilities are brimming with excitement

Picture a blank piece of paper before you. Imagine you’re sitting in your car, about to start driving, with no idea where you’re going and no map to get you there.

Is “fear” the first thought that comes to mind? That is a natural reaction… until you understand that uncertainty is your greatest asset.

There are infinite paths ahead of you, so many rewards to grab hold of, untold riches coming your way.

Challenge your assumptions about your limitations – what can or can’t be achieved.

Challenge your ideas about how the world should work and see the world as it actually is. Let go of that “something” that is holding you back.

Instead of thinking of all you don’t want, think of what you do want. Whittle down the overwhelming number of choices to pick a path that suits your talents, interests, and desires.

Make your decision and walk out into the world with your eyes wide open.

Take note of the beauty in where you are at this point in your journey. You are learning, experiencing, adapting, and growing.

Anticipation is rewarding in its own regard

You don’t need to take a vacation to enjoy the rewards of one. Vacationers feel happiest while planning their trips and daydreaming about all they’ll do, according to a 2010 study of more than 1,500 people published in the journal of Applied Research in Quality of Life.

Similarly, a 2007 study by Leaf Van Boven and Laurence Ashworth published in the journal of Experimental Psychology found that students felt happier anticipating their vacation than they felt later reminiscing about the trip.

So immerse yourself in a daydream by reading, watching films, and talking to others about future plans, whether it’s about a vacation, a future career endeavor, a date, a new baby, an impending move, or whatever the case may be.

Keep your mind on the prize of possibilities in life, on dreams of greatness.

Accept the current set of circumstances as they are and set new initiatives, so you can forge ahead with confidence to meet whatever the future holds.

Get The Life You’ve Imagined… Through Women’s Empowerment

“A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture, and transform.”    –              Diane Mariechild-

What Is Women’s Empowerment?

You can think of women’s empowerment as a way of breaking through limitation. Historically, women as a group have broken past barriers to education, voting, land owning, and employment. Yet, on a more personal, individual level, women are empowering themselves every day to be something more than what they were yesterday. Empowerment is more than just self esteem: it’s harnessing the transformative powers within to enact real change – which can be emotional, physical, or spiritual in nature. When you are empowered, your outlook is more positive and the world is your oyster.

What Are The Benefits of Women’s Empowerment?

  • Greater equality
  • More individual happiness
  • Improved productivity
  • Higher earnings
  • Better sex
  • Emotional maturity
  • Generations of prosperity
  • Sense of peace

How Does A Woman Develop A Sense of Empowerment?

There are many ways for a woman to develop a sense of empowerment over time. Some women read books, take retreats, learn meditation, and attempt to guide themselves. However, you can more quickly and easily facilitate this transition by working with a certified life coach as I have! A life coach can show you practical ways to become more resilient and motivated to accomplish anything and everything you desire… and, you deserve all of it!
